About the position

Dr. Sagar Khare in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology and Institute for Quantitative Biomedicine (IQB) at Rutgers University is seeking applications for a postdoctoral associate position from highly skilled and motivated individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Yeast surface display-based protein engineering, High-throughput protein expression and assays using robotics-based liquid handling, Deep learning-based methods development for protein design and engineering. Involvement will be in various funded projects on protein design, and in collaboration with colleagues at Rutgers in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering, among others. There will be freedom to develop new side-projects in the broad area of protein design and engineering. The start date is flexible, but preference will be given to candidates who can begin immediately.

Requirements

  • PhD in biophysics, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, bioengineering, electrical engineering or related disciplines.
  • Research experience in at least one of the following: computational protein design, directed evolution, protein biophysics, enzyme characterization, and structural biology techniques.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming language (e.g., C++, Python).
  • Proficiency in both written and oral communication skills in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Deep working knowledge and experience in using deep learning software for protein design.
  • Experience in enzyme kinetics characterization.
  • Experience in structural biology.
