About the position

The Porter position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety within the distribution center (DC) by ensuring clear and clean aisles for efficient operations. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks and adhering to corporate safety policies and legal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop aisles and walkways as needed for safe, efficient operations.
• Pick up and properly discard debris in the aisles including plastic, corrugated, paper and split products.
• Constantly walk and monitor aisles for damaged, split, improperly placed product and respond accordingly.
• Remove damaged product, repackages or discards as appropriate.
• Operate hand-held scanner to identify misplaced product and ensure proper placement in the DC.
• Dump garbage cans in the DC.

Requirements

• High school education or general education degree (GED) plus related work experience in a fast-paced DC setting.
• Ability to carry out written and or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability and willingness to move with a sense of purpose and urgency.
• Attention to surroundings and dedication to workplace safety.
• Ability to work weekends, differing shifts and overtime as needed to meet business needs.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
