About the position
The Uniformed Division Officer position within the Secret Service is a critical role focused on providing protection for key government locations and officials. Officers are tasked with safeguarding the White House Complex, the Vice President's Residence, and various diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. This position requires a commitment to public safety, physical fitness, and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations while maintaining a strong sense of duty and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
- Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
- Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
- Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time of receiving a conditional offer of employment.
- Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular and corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
- Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in specified frequency ranges.
- Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing while in the position.
- Carry and use a firearm, maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory.
- Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
- Certify registration with the Selective Service System if applicable.
