About the position

The Podiatry Surgery Scheduler plays a crucial role in assisting and supporting patients and their families throughout the surgical procedure process. This position is responsible for managing a high volume of incoming calls, scheduling procedures, and ensuring effective communication of all necessary information related to upcoming surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Assist, inform, and support patients and their families throughout the procedure process.
• Return all voicemails in a timely manner while maintaining a courteous and professional attitude.
• Schedule surgical procedures and pre-op appointments.
• Make reminder calls the day before procedures.
• Obtain prior authorizations as needed.
• Review, process, and follow up on provider referrals using electronic medical records (EMR), fax, and phone.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Excellent customer service skills demonstrated in past work experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• 6 months experience in a clinical setting.
• Typing, filing, and telephone skills.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems.
• Completion of a baseline medical terminology course within 180 days of beginning employment.
