About the position

The Account Coordinator at Purdue University Northwest is responsible for managing fiscal approvals and ensuring compliance with internal controls and university policies. This role involves close collaboration with department staff and the Grants Office to facilitate financial processes and maintain accurate records. The position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility in working from home or on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, implement and communicate university financial management policies and procedures, internal controls, state and federal guidelines to all accounts assigned
  • Audit and approve direct invoice vouchers for payment
  • Collaborate with Grants Office regarding fiscal approval for grant funded items
  • Review accounts and coordinate resolution of overdrafts and other problems with the Business Manager
  • Interpret, implement and communicate university procurement guidelines
  • Audit and approve transactions in Ariba
  • Reconcile and approve credit card transactions
  • Work with internal customers to ensure payments are processed in a timely fashion and in accordance with University policies
  • Provide training and guidance regarding fiscal processes and communicate any new policies and changes

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • One year of accounting/financial management work experience required, with preference to the experience in higher education
  • Detailed knowledge of business office functions and ability to interpret policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and customer relations skills
