About the position

The Plumbing Mechanic position at HomeServe USA involves assembling, installing, inspecting, altering, renovating, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems under the supervision of a master plumber. The role requires a thorough understanding of plumbing standards and safety regulations, as well as the ability to manage repair costs and maintain inventory. The Plumbing Mechanic will work independently and communicate effectively with customers while ensuring compliance with plumbing codes and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, inspect, alter, renovate, maintain, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of HVAC, water, and drainage systems.
  • Investigate and analyze plumbing, heating, and drainage calls in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinate with Dispatch and management to ensure accurate and timely work order completion.
  • Install heating and related equipment in residential settings to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Manage repair costs while minimizing inefficiencies.
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Manage and maintain appropriate inventory of required parts and equipment.
  • Work on various heating units and systems for renovation and preventive maintenance.
  • Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory.
  • Transport tools and equipment to job sites as needed.
  • Work independently and maintain good customer communication.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of plumbing standards, rules, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Experience with boilers and hot water heaters is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is desirable.
  • General knowledge of electrical wiring.
  • Ability to install/repair gas piping, water piping, and sweating of copper piping.
  • General knowledge of the operation of Domestic Hot Water heaters, Furnaces, Coils, Condensers, and Boilers.
  • At least 3 years of service plumbing or heating installation experience in a residential setting is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Plumbing certification and/or training from an accredited technical school is preferred.
  • Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of local plumbing codes and regulations.
