About the position

The Department of State Hospitals - Coalinga is accepting applications for one (1) permanent, full-time appointment for Plumber II classification. The vacancy exists in the Plant Operations Department and is under the direction of the Plumber Supervisor. The Plumber II shall be responsible for plumbing duties hospital wide. A successful incumbent will have knowledge and experience in: providing clear, concise direction and leadership, inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing equipment relating to water, gas, sewer, and fire hydrant; troubleshooting plumbing systems; knowledgeable of principles, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the plumbing industry; maintaining and adhering to tool control policy and procedures; maintaining accurate record keeping; plumbing apprenticeship or equivalent experience; reading blueprints, working from plans and specifications: preparing rough sketches for minor plumbing installations and estimating material and labor cost; maintaining records and reports, adhering to all safety and security policies and procedures; and knowledgeable of California plumbing, building, construction and safety codes applicable to the plumbing industry.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Completion of Plumber Apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing industry.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable and able to follow directions.
  • Ability to work well with others and promote positive work relationships.
