About the position
The Medical Support Specialist at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in determining donor eligibility for plasma donation, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. This position operates under the supervision of the Center Manager and the Center Physician, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and providing support for environmental health and safety initiatives. The role emphasizes exceptional customer service and teamwork in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall mission of improving the lives of patients with rare diseases.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility accurately and in a timely manner, including informed consent and medical history interviews.
- Evaluate and manage donor reactions and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies.
- Manage donor deferrals and notify donors of unsuitable test results as per SOPs.
- Conduct pre-placement evaluations of new hires and maintain employee medical records.
- Support vaccination programs for employees and manage employee incidents.
- Administer first aid to employees as needed and act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized.
- Greet donors, record vital signs, and monitor the electronic donor questionnaire system.
- Coordinate with other center roles to ensure safety and provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area and assist in other areas as needed.
Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized educational program.
- Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
