About the position

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the production facility, ensuring the highest quality products are produced efficiently and within budget. This role involves implementing effective production management systems, driving continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing practices, and managing the facility's profit and loss. The Plant Manager will lead strategic planning efforts, maintain safety and quality standards, and develop staff to optimize workforce performance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the facility provides the highest quality products produced efficiently within budgeted costs.
  • Implements systems to manage production schedules effectively.
  • Leads Lean Manufacturing initiatives to foster continuous improvement.
  • Acts proactively in problem resolution.
  • Manages profit and loss for the facility and reviews KPIs regularly.
  • Leads strategic planning efforts including cost reduction initiatives and capital planning.
  • Manages safety, quality, scheduling, production, shipping, maintenance, and administrative functions.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and efficient operation in compliance with regulations.
  • Strives to improve the plant's safety record and create a positive safety culture.
  • Conducts weekly safety walks of the facility.
  • Conducts talent reviews and trains staff to optimize workforce performance.
  • Delivers performance reviews and feedback to the team as needed.
  • Conducts weekly staff meetings focusing on key operative measurements.
  • Schedules and conducts plant communication meetings for all employees.
  • Interfaces with customers and suppliers as necessary.
  • Establishes positive community relationships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business Management.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, and/or process improvement roles.
  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably in plastic injection molding and metal processing.
  • Experience in a commercial role with direct customer contact.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with process development and business process design.
  • Experience managing to ISO or equivalent quality standards.
  • Experience implementing and/or managing to an Operating System like the Toyota Production Systems.

  • Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices in manufacturing.
