About the position

The Planning Program Manager for the State of North Carolina's Division of Parks and Recreation is responsible for overseeing the State Trails Program. This role involves planning and organizing trail projects, managing program funds, and conducting research and analysis to inform planning decisions. The position aims to enhance the state's park trails and ensure effective collaboration with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee coordination and collaboration with the 14 state trails.
  • Create master plans for newly authorized state trails.
  • Manage the Complete the Trails Fund and grant contracts with State Trail Partners.
  • Develop General Management Plans (GMPs).
  • Research park issues by analyzing data, previous plans, and reports.
  • Hold pre-GMP and GMP meetings to identify and resolve issues.
  • Identify and define the scope of park capital improvement projects.
  • Produce and revise park master plans that include specific use areas and connections.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience producing planning documents and correspondences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regional planning, site specific planning, public relations, public involvement techniques, or cost/benefit analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience tracking and working on multiple assignments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a planning program.
