About the position

The Pipefitter position at AdvanSix involves interpreting technical drawings and fabricating piping systems in both shop and field environments. The role requires skilled welding and assembly of metal components, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. The position is critical in supporting the company's operations in various industries, including construction and manufacturing, by delivering reliable and sustainable piping solutions.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting technical drawings and recreating piping details in shop and field.
• Bolting, clamping, and welding together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe, and tube or structural shapes using arc and arc gas welding equipment.
• Welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions as required.
• Removing, fabricating, and welding in fixed equipment repair panels.
• Performing welding repairs to boiler and exchanger tubes and tube sheets as needed.
• Selecting type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment according to job specifications.
• Selecting equipment and planning layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry and physical properties of metal.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Licensed Journeyman-level pipefitter/welder or successful completion of state certified apprenticeship program or equivalent relative craft.
• 5 years of industrial experience in pipefitting and/or welding.
• Knowledge of the tools, principles, methods, and techniques used in the pipefitting and welding trades.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and ability to comply with OSHA procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Welding experience preferred.
• Ability to perform minor rigging and signaling of cranes.
• Ability to operate and maintain grinding equipment.
• Ability to fabricate and roll plate.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and isometric drawings.
• Ability to perform basic math computations.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
