About the position

The Physician Support Associate II (PSAII) at Radiology Partners plays a crucial role in coordinating physician schedules, managing workflow for case reads, and ensuring timely completion of critical patient cases. This position is essential for maintaining efficient operations within the radiology practice, particularly during the 2nd shift on weekends. The PSAII will work closely with radiologists and scheduling teams to optimize patient care and support the overall mission of transforming radiology services.

Responsibilities

  • Review Radiologists' daily work schedule at the beginning of the work day.
  • Communicate and coordinate fluoroscopic exams, injection procedures, STATS, and any meetings to avoid disruptions.
  • Monitor radiology exams scheduled and pending scheduling to ensure appropriate physician coverage.
  • Update the Outlook calendar to reflect current physician coverage and ensure appropriate skill sets are on site.
  • Assign STAT and subspecialty exams to appropriate Radiologist for timely reading.
  • Monitor exams to assign lunch breaks for Radiologists while ensuring coverage for reads.
  • Review, monitor, schedule, and suggest time for additional add-on exams and obtain approval if needed.
  • Ensure timely reading of STAT exams performed in emergency departments and other critical areas.
  • Communicate with the physician scheduling team to ensure physicians are trained and credentialed for their scheduled work slots.
  • Triage and coordinate phone calls for Radiologists, ensuring efficiency and timeliness in responses.
  • Ensure quality assurance of all exams and that necessary information is available for interpretations.
  • Assist front desk personnel with requisition interpretation and clinical indications as required.
  • Participate in On-Call coverage rotation for uncovered shifts.
  • Assist visiting physicians by uploading patient exams and coordinating reviews with Radiologists.
  • Maintain knowledge of multiple software applications and provide basic technical assistance to Radiologists.
  • Act as an ambassador of Jefferson Radiology to hospital staff, management, physicians, and patients.
  • Address customer concerns in the Radiology department and involve physician intervention when necessary.
  • Adhere to all applicable Hospital procedures and policies, including Compliance, HIPAA, OSHA, and licensing guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of medical office experience, preferably in radiology.
  • Previous experience working directly with physician schedules or facilitating physician flow is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and radiology specialties is required.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands in a calm and efficient manner and communicate clearly and tactfully is essential.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a pleasant, professional manner are necessary.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail, as well as strong computer skills, including Excel.
