About the position

The position involves formulating full treatment plans based on sound evaluation and diagnoses consistent with current and/or evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. The role promotes preventative and health maintenance care, stressing positive health behaviors and self-care through education and counseling. Additionally, the position requires providing assessments of fitness and suitability for duty and deployments of service members. The candidate will evaluate the care provided to patients at Military Treatment Facilities (MTF), identify opportunities to change the care delivered, advise on difficult or complex cases, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate full treatment plans based on sound evaluation and diagnoses consistent with current and/or evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
  • Promote preventative and health maintenance care, stressing positive health behaviors and self-care through education and counseling.
  • Provide assessments of fitness and suitability for duty and deployments of service members.
  • Evaluate the care provided to patients at Military Treatment Facility (MTF), identify opportunities to change the care delivered, advise on difficult or complex cases, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain a favorable result from a Criminal History Background Check.
  • This position requires at least one contact (i.e. patient encounter) per week or at least four (4) contacts per month with children under the age of 18.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position; all applicants tentatively selected will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk.
  • This position has a lifting requirement of up to 40lbs (pounds).
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Must be currently board certified and maintain board certification in Family Medicine.
