About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive outpatient medical care within the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation clinic. Working under the supervision of a physician, the PA performs physical examinations, develops treatment plans, and supports patients across the continuum of care with a focus on restoring function and improving quality of life.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program (MS-PAS)
  • Current Louisiana PA License (or eligibility)
  • NCCPA Certification
  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based outpatient environment
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous learning

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient histories and perform comprehensive physical exams
  • Evaluate and manage conditions using lab results, imaging, and clinical findings
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians
  • Order and perform diagnostic procedures as delegated
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
  • Provide patient education and counseling to support recovery and wellness
  • Coordinate referrals to PT/OT and medical subspecialties as appropriate
  • Document and communicate care plans and findings with referring providers
  • Support clinic flow and assist with patient follow-up and triage
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Serve as a resource to nursing and clinic staff
  • Assist with preoperative evaluations and procedural support as needed
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical programs
  • Contribute to research activities, when applicable
  • Maintain licensure, certifications, and ongoing professional development
