About the position

The Physician Assistant provides clinical services to assist physicians within their specific scope of expertise. Assists and instructs students in clinical research. Provides clinical services for University Medical Center Resident Clinics. Responsible for independent decision making in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Assists faculty physicians and family medicine resident physicians. Works to improve efficiency, organization, and patient/clinic flow. Manages day-to-day operations, resolves issues, and contributes to the improvement of quality of care, as well as patient and provider satisfaction. Responsible for completing required training that is related to laws and regulations that create a more hospitable and respectful workplace and safe work environment. Has personal accountability and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA/CCHS policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services to assist physicians.
  • Assist and instruct students in clinical research.
  • Make independent decisions in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

  • Complete required training related to workplace laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Physician Assistant (PA) License in the State of Alabama in good standing.
  • Alabama Controlled Substances Certificate (ACSC) and United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License or qualified to apply for one.
  • Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years of broad or specialized professional experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • Prior experience as a member of a treatment team in a primary care ambulatory environment.
  • Experience supervising clinical operations and staff.
