Fairweather, LLC is looking for Locum Tenens PAs and NPs to join our medical team of professionals for a drive to provide excellent patient care. Established in 1976, Fairweather LLC is a leading provider of remote medical support for Alaska, with a four-decade history of medical staffing for clinic and hospital sites throughout the state. Fairweather's medical department consists of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, paramedics, EMT II/III and registered nurses. The number of employees varies based on camp location and work activity levels.

Responsibilities

  • Practitioner for acute and occupational medical care, including routine minor illnesses, medical emergencies, and trauma.
  • Directs triage, patient transport, and medical supervision at mass casualty incidents.
  • Interfaces with other response team sections.
  • Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in the workforce according to a collaborative agreement with the supervising physicians.
  • Prescribe and dispense appropriate pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances, as approved by the supervising physician.
  • Determine the need for emergency air evacuation of seriously ill or injured patients to appropriate medical centers in Anchorage and Fairbanks.
  • Conduct laboratory and electro-cardiograph diagnostic procedures as required.
  • Refer patients to appropriate consulting physicians within Alaska when required.
  • Attend daily and/or weekly safety and training sessions with the Medical Director and/or Medical Emergency Response Team.
  • Maintain medical records according to company policies and expected standards of medical practice.

Requirements

  • Active Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License with Alaska State License.
  • Professional certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Active DEA License.
  • 3-5 years of family, internal medicine, or emergency medicine experience.
  • 2 years of remote experience is preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA first aid policies.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
