About the position
The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) at YNHHS is a licensed professional provider who collaborates with attending physicians to deliver exceptional patient care across various settings. This role emphasizes a patient-centered approach, addressing the holistic needs of patients and their families. The PA/NP is responsible for diagnostic and therapeutic care, patient education, and maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethical behavior.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and manage patient treatment plans.
- Educate patients and families on care, treatment plans, and available resources.
- Ensure appropriate documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior and ensure compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Engage in professional development and serve as a clinical resource for new staff.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
- Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License.
- ACLS/BLS Certified, as indicated for position profile.
- Evidence of current competence to practice as an APRN, PA, CRNA, or CNM.
Nice-to-haves
- Clinical working experience as a NP/PA within the specialty/service line is preferred but not required.
