The Physician Assistant in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Mount Sinai Queens is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in collaboration with supervising physicians and medical teams. This role involves critical thinking, diagnosis, treatment planning, and the administration of medications and diagnostics in various settings, including inpatient and outpatient care. The position emphasizes patient-centered safety and quality, requiring effective communication and collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care and adherence to clinical policies.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for patient management, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ordering of tests and medications as per NYS law and hospital policy.
  • Accurately document patient care, status changes, orders, and notes in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with medical teams and associated staff.
  • Provide consultation to nursing and ancillary medical teams regarding patient conditions and care plans.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians and care teams to prioritize patient-centered safety and quality.
  • Perform delegated clinical duties and tasks efficiently.
  • Communicate assessment and treatment plans to patients and families compassionately.
  • Facilitate patient continuity of care across multi-disciplinary services.
  • Adhere to clinical and institutional policies related to practice and operations.
  • Maintain required certifications and licensure as per Medical Staff policy.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an Accredited Physician Assistant Program, master's preferred.
  • NCCPA Board Certification.
  • New York State Licensure.
  • DEA Licensure.
  • BLS and ACLS Certification.
  • Infection Control Certification.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Previous Epic software experience preferred.
