About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for administering physical therapy treatment plans aimed at alleviating pain, restoring function, preventing disabilities, and promoting overall fitness and health of patients. This role involves implementing appropriate treatments based on patients' learning styles and therapeutic needs, while also considering their psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual needs. The assistant documents patient progress, maintains records, and collaborates with the Physical Therapist to set goals and adjust treatment plans as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Administer physical therapy treatment plans to alleviate pain and restore function.
• Implement treatments based on patients' learning styles and therapeutic needs.
• Document patient progress with measurable and functional goals.
• Maintain patient records according to hospital policy, including progress notes and discharge summaries.
• Adjust schedules to accommodate changes in caseload.
• Meet regularly with the Physical Therapist to discuss patient progress and set goals.
• Contribute to departmental performance through professional development and training.
• Communicate with physicians and interdisciplinary medical team regarding treatment and patient progress.
• Utilize health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff.
• Ensure a clean and safe work area.

Requirements

• Active South Carolina license as Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR/AED) certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a clinical setting as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
