About the position

The Physical Therapist will perform their duties at the David Grant Medical Center (DGMC), Travis AFB, CA. The work involves providing a full range of therapy services in support of patient referrals, ensuring that all patient contact and care is safe, timely, and effective. The therapist will be responsible for evaluating patients, administering treatments, and providing education to patients and their families. The position requires a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy or equivalent qualifications, along with a current license to practice as a physical therapist. The work schedule is from Sunday to Saturday, 0730-1630, with a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate therapeutic procedures and a full range of therapy services in support of patient referrals.
  • Test and measure the patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and/or respiratory and circulatory efficiency.
  • Administer treatments involving application of physical agents using various equipment.
  • Instruct patients and families in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices.
  • Provide documented treatment and discharge recommendations.
  • Participate in rehabilitation team meetings and quality assurance meetings.
  • Provide clinical supervision to assistants, technicians, aides, and students.
  • Perform a full range of physical therapist services in accordance with clinical privileges.
  • Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on patient evaluations.
  • Administer manual exercises and motivate patients in performing physical activities.
  • Record treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart.
  • Coordinate treatment with physicians and other staff members.
  • Perform prevention and wellness activities and promote positive health behaviors.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Master's degree in physical therapy or Baccalaureate degree in physical therapy for graduates prior to January 1, 2002.
  • At least 24 months of experience within the past 36 months as a physical therapist.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist.
