About the position

The Physical Therapist at MaineHealth is responsible for performing evaluations, developing treatment plans, and executing therapies aimed at restoring function, relieving pain, and preventing disability in patients. This role is crucial in helping patients achieve their maximum performance as per the prescribed Plan of Care by physicians, adhering to standards set by the American Physical Therapy Association.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical therapy evaluations to assess patient needs.
• Develop and implement treatment plans to restore function and relieve pain.
• Provide care to prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part.
• Assist patients in reaching their maximum performance according to the Plan of Care prescribed by the physician.
• Document patient progress and maintain accurate medical records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Active Physical Therapist license required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Prior experience in a hospital, nursing home, or outpatient Physical Therapy Department preferred.
• Knowledge of medical record documentation and federal/state laws related to healthcare information release.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and staff interaction.
• Ability to maintain professionalism under stress.
• Proficient computer skills.
