About the position
The Physical Therapist in the Outpatient Wound Clinic at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing patient care in accordance with professional standards and regulations. This role involves collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective discharge planning and follow-up care, while also addressing the emotional and physical needs of patients. The position requires a commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
Responsibilities
- Examine, evaluate, and test patients to alleviate impairments and functional limitations.
- Plan and implement therapeutic interventions based on patient evaluations.
- Recommend appropriate treatment intensity and discharge patients when criteria are met.
- Comply with billing practices and ensure appropriate use of department resources.
- Meet productivity standards as defined by the department.
- Advocate for patients to receive appropriate services in the right setting.
- Document results and recommendations according to department protocol.
- Participate in departmental in-services and seek educational opportunities to advance clinical skills.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and improved service delivery.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited program with a minimum bachelor's degree; Master's or Doctorate preferred.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Illinois.
- Basic computer proficiency and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with diverse cultures and those with language or cognitive impairments.
- Foreign graduates must submit certification of passage of the TOEFL and TSE.
Nice-to-haves
- Advanced certification in specific practice areas may be preferred.
