About the position

The Physical Therapist Technician is responsible for supporting the Physical Therapist (PT) and Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in their daily productivity. This role involves assisting with supervising patients during exercises, applying and removing hot/cold packs, removing electrodes, and providing general support to the therapists. The technician will work under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist and will assist with various tasks to ensure quality patient care and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with treating all patients except Medicare under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist.
  • Ensure paperwork is co-signed by a Physical Therapist.
  • Assist Physical Therapists with assessing readiness to return to a sport.
  • Utilize all modalities and perform soft tissue work including massage as recommended by a Physical Therapist.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures including vacation, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Attend meetings and participate in staff discussions.
  • Schedule patients and complete required paperwork within recommended time frames for documentation and billing.
  • Instruct patients and their families in an effective and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment to facilitate quality patient care and efficient operations.
  • Recommend appropriate supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Attend continuing education programs as approved by the Clinic Manager.
  • Assist in developing new programs and resolving conflicts with co-workers or patients.
  • Utilize appropriate communication techniques for internal and external customers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and achieve goals to improve quality of care.
  • Communicate with doctors regarding patient status changes or treatment questions.
  • Receive incoming calls for the clinic and manage messages appropriately.
  • Greet patients and visitors professionally and provide assistance as needed.
  • Schedule appointments, order supplies, maintain the waiting room, and perform clerical duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
