About the position

The Physical Therapist - Per Diem Outpatient Services role at Kaiser Permanente involves managing the physical therapy needs of patients in an outpatient setting. The therapist will evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and implement therapy to restore functional abilities. This position requires collaboration with other healthcare professionals and adherence to company policies and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients and interprets examination findings to determine the nature and extent of dysfunction.
  • Performs clinical testing to assess muscle strength, reflexes, sensation, coordination, and range of motion.
  • Establishes a plan of care to achieve established goals based on patient age, medical history, and dysfunction.
  • Administers or prescribes modalities and other physical agents for treatment.
  • Develops and administers exercise programs and patient care programs.
  • Demonstrates professional competence and clinical reasoning in assessing patients' conditions.
  • Regularly reassesses clinical signs and symptoms to determine treatment effectiveness and necessary modifications.
  • Implements the treatment program through direct patient treatment.
  • Coordinates treatment plans and participates in discharge planning with healthcare personnel.
  • Provides advice and education to patients and their families.
  • Discharges patients from physical therapy services when no longer medically necessary.
  • Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas and reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Documents physical therapy services provided per state and federal requirements.
  • Completes mandatory compliance requirements in partnership with management.
  • May supervise PT assistants and PT aides in patient-related tasks.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited PT training program with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Physical Therapist License - Applicant (California) required at hire OR Physical Therapist License (California) required at hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire from American Heart Association.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
