About the position

The Physical Therapist Assistant at MedStar Health will provide essential physical therapy services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. This role requires a professional competency in physical therapy, the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and the independent use of varied treatment approaches. The position is integral to ensuring effective patient care and rehabilitation within one of the largest healthcare systems in the Baltimore-Washington metro region.

Responsibilities

  • Document and charge for patient care activities under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and meet productivity expectations.
  • Manage an accurate schedule and arrange for re-evaluations and discharge summaries.
  • Complete appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care in collaboration with the supervising physical therapist.
  • Provide patient treatment services, including administering modalities and interventions within the treatment plan's limits.
  • Collaborate with other team members for an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Recognize and document changes in the patient's condition and contribute to treatment plan modifications.
  • Provide verbal and written reports for patient progress conferences as applicable.
  • Pursue continuing education for professional growth and competency.
  • Serve as a clinical instructor to assigned students as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant school.
  • Associate degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia licensure required as deemed necessary for your specific location(s).
  • American Heart Association's BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers CPR certification.
