Waymo's cars may be self-driving, but its security program is steered by experts like you. Safety is our foundation and is at the heart of everything we do. As Waymo Security Operations Manager, you will be responsible for development, evaluation and deployment of physical security process and procedure improvements for Waymo, including both planning and leading across a wide range of physical security optimization projects in an extremely fast paced environment with a high degree of ambiguity. At every turn, process excellence, collaboration, and detailed cross-org communications are critical. You will manage this program and implement strategic improvements while assuring alignment and compliance with security policies and requirements. This role reports to the Head of Security Operations and Technology and is located in Mountain View, CA or San Francisco, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of security systems, including design, installation, maintenance, and optimization across the entire portfolio.
  • Lead selection and oversight for integrators, ensuring high-quality installation, programming, and repair of security hardware and software.
  • Drive strategic initiatives to address complex security technology challenges with innovative, scalable solutions.
  • Cultivate cross-functional alignment with WaySOC, Facilities, IT & Network, Project Delivery, and others vendors to ensure program success and delivery.
  • Define and evolve system standards, technical specifications, and policies to ensure consistency, compliance, and long-term resilience.
  • Manage integrations with third-party tools, IoT devices, and enterprise security platforms, including identity management systems, alarm panels, video analytics, and AI-based threat detection technologies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience managing enterprise-level security systems; Genetec & CCure
  • Experience building programs that highlight security technology value across stakeholder teams
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and its integration with physical security systems.
  • Experience leading and managing 3rd party security integrators on security installations
  • Exceptional project delivery skills, including the ability to gather relevant jurisdictional limitations and roadblocks, as well as communicate recommendations effectively to various stakeholders

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as PMP, CSM, CSPM, or similar.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based security solutions and IoT security technologies
  • A track record of proven objective analysis, having delivering solutions in an atmosphere where speed, flexibility and frugality are the norm
  • Drive to work in a startup environment, ideally in tech industry
