About the position
The University of Minnesota's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is seeking a full-time academic physiatrist to join its dynamic and growing General Physiatry Program. The role involves providing patient-centered care, expanding the physiatry program, and engaging in education and scholarly activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellent patient care, possess strong clinical and interpersonal skills, and have a collaborative spirit to thrive in an academic environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient General Physiatry care within the M Health Fairview system.
- Work with the PM&R Medical Director/Division Director to build relationships with referring departments and units.
- Participate in call coverage at the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (IRF) on a rotating basis.
- Provide cross-coverage of inpatient services as needed.
- Work with APP's and trainees in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Close all patient encounters before eight calendar days.
- Mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and allied health professionals in a clinical setting.
- Engage in scholarly work in the candidate's area of specialty/research expertise.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited PM&R residency training program.
- Board-certified or board-eligible with the American Board of PM&R (ABPM&R).
- Eligible to obtain a Minnesota Board of Medical Practice license.
- Skills to manage change and communicate effectively in a rapidly expanding department.
- Enthusiasm and a collaborative nature.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience collaborating with individuals across multiple departments, practices, and health systems.
- Experience with botulinum toxins injections to treat spasticity, dystonia, and migraines/headaches.
