About the position
In this role, you will be responsible for patient phlebotomy, ordering and processing laboratory tests, labeling, monitoring computer reports, and performing clerical duties as assigned. You will also engage in positive and courteous interactions with patients. Your proficiency in blood collection and timely, accurate performance of tasks is essential. You will perform waived testing as required and assist guests and patients in a courteous manner, interacting with physicians for proper diagnosis codes and billing information. Additionally, you will handle account registrations, collect necessary consents, and complete various administrative duties including scanning patient data and tracking workload performance. You will also be responsible for answering phone calls, recording lab test orders, and providing reports according to compliance regulations. Processing specimens for testing and maintaining supply levels will also be part of your duties. You may be required to float and direct daily operations in multiple client locations and patient service centers.
Responsibilities
- Shows proficiency in blood collection and performs tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
- Receives, greets, and assists guests/patients in a timely and courteous manner.
- Performs account registrations and orders tests in multiple laboratory systems.
- Completes administrative duties including scanning of all relative patient data.
- Answers phone in a courteous, clear, and timely manner, records orders for lab tests, and provides appropriate reports.
- Inputs and accesses information via the hospital and laboratory computer systems.
- Processes specimens for testing including identifying, sorting, aliquoting, centrifuging, and labeling specimens appropriately.
- Floats works, and directs daily operations in multiple client locations and patient service centers.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year of related experience
Nice-to-haves
- Phlebotomy certificate from accredited program preferred
