About the position
West Volusia Family and Sports Medicine is seeking a qualified Phlebotomist to join their Primary Care office. This full-time role involves performing phlebotomy and supporting patient care in a dynamic team environment focused on Family and Sports medicine. The position includes Saturday shifts and requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy using proper technique and universal precautions.
- Ensure lab specimens are sent to proper labs.
- Document patient care services utilizing daily logs, patient records, and appropriate outside laboratory forms.
- Comfort patients by anticipating anxieties, answering questions, and providing support.
- Collect and organize blood, tissue, and other bodily fluid samples from patients.
- Prepare samples for routine testing and analysis.
- Properly record results for further analysis and easy reference.
- Monitor inventory samples and supplies.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Work under the supervision of a medical technologist.
Requirements
- 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
- Previous experience as a clinical technician or in other related fields.
- Familiarity with common medical terminology.
- Experience in a laboratory setting.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work closely with a team of clinicians.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Capability of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer and telephone skills required.
