About the position

The Phlebotomist position involves drawing quality blood samples from patients and preparing specimens for lab testing. This role is crucial in creating a trusting environment for patients while ensuring accurate and safe blood collection. The Phlebotomist will work under the direction of an area supervisor and is expected to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing.
• Explain procedures to patients and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
• Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
• Maintain required records and documentation accurately.
• Demonstrate leadership behaviors and focus on process excellence.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment during all activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in phlebotomy.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
• One (+) year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
