About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Phlebotomist II in Melrose Park, IL. This position is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory procedures and patient care activities. The role involves collecting specimens, ensuring accurate labeling, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. The Phlebotomist II will interact with patients, providing a high level of customer service and ensuring their comfort and safety during the collection process. This role also includes administrative tasks such as maintaining records and managing supplies.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of a phlebotomy training program.
Certification from a recognized phlebotomy agency (e.g., ASCP, NHA).
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a phlebotomist.
Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.
Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
Strong understanding of safety and infection control standards.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.

Nice To Haves

Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Additional certifications in related healthcare fields.
Experience working in a high-volume laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
Ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
Process and prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families.
Manage inventory of supplies and reorder as needed.
Perform basic administrative tasks, including data entry and record keeping.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
