About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Phlebotomist II in Melrose Park, IL. This position is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory procedures and patient care activities. The role involves collecting specimens, ensuring accurate labeling, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. The Phlebotomist II will interact with patients, providing a high level of customer service and ensuring their comfort and safety during the collection process. This role also includes administrative tasks such as maintaining records and managing supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program.
  • Certification from a recognized phlebotomy agency (e.g., ASCP, NHA).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a phlebotomist.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
  • Strong understanding of safety and infection control standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Additional certifications in related healthcare fields.
  • Experience working in a high-volume laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
  • Ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
  • Process and prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and reorder as needed.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks, including data entry and record keeping.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
