About the position

The Phlebotomist II Site Lead at Quest Diagnostics is responsible for drawing blood samples from patients and preparing specimens for lab testing while ensuring a safe and supportive environment. This role involves direct patient interaction, creating an atmosphere of trust, and leading daily activities at a Patient Service Center or In-Office Phlebotomy. The Site Lead will also mentor new employees and ensure compliance with established procedures and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
  • Administer oral solutions as per training.
  • Research test/client information and verify orders using lab technology systems.
  • Complete accurate data entry for patient registration and test orders.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, and splitting as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties such as inventory management and answering phones.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Verify patient demographic information post-venipuncture.
  • Assist with monthly statistics and data submission.
  • Maintain phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
  • Complete training courses to stay updated on phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to off-site meetings as required.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Perform Point of Care testing where needed.
  • Act as a mentor and resource for new employees.
  • Assist with inventory counts and report shortages.
  • Prepare schedules for the assigned workgroup or PSC.
  • Communicate professionally with clients to resolve issues.
  • Ensure staff adherence to safety precautions and cleanliness of facilities.

Requirements

  • Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible availability for staffing needs, including weekends and holidays.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment.
