About the position

The Pharmacy Tech I - Compounding Technician position at Computech Corporation involves preparing and packaging medications under the supervision of a pharmacist. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with pharmacy laws and guidelines while maintaining a clean and sterile environment. The position is a temporary role with the potential for permanent placement, requiring a National Pharmacy Tech Certification and experience in a high-volume customer service setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and package medication and supplies for shipment to patients under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Perform record-keeping functions related to medication preparation.
• Assist in various inventory control processes.
• Select, pick, package, and label medications and ancillary supplies per prescriptions in accordance with pharmacy laws.
• Exercise proper hand sanitization and hazardous medication handling procedures.
• Prepare and compound sterile products following USP 797 and USP 800 requirements.
• Maintain the pharmacy clean room suite, including cleaning all surfaces with approved disinfectants.
• Document IV admixture and clean room suite sterility testing.
• Complete documentation for inventory management and storage, including labels and log sheets.
• Accurately count drugs using manual processes and automated counting devices.
• Prepare and restock pharmacy preparation rooms with medication and supplies as needed.
• Participate in on-call rotation as indicated by staffing and business needs.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician in an administrative support function.
• National pharmacy technician certification is required.
• Advanced computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet utilization.
• Excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal.
