About the position

PeaceHealth is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $24.67 - $37.03. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Responsibilities

  • Enter inpatient orders/prescriptions into the computer and prepare labels for medications to be checked by the pharmacist.
  • Answer telephones when appropriate and within legal guidelines and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Inspect medications for outdates in patient care area Pyxis stations on a quarterly basis.
  • Prepare IVs, PCAs, Epidurals and label all IV products. Prepare chemotherapeutic intravenous medications as requested.
  • Package drugs into unit dose packaging and maintain packaging records.
  • Reconstitute medication by adding a specific quantity of distilled water requiring no calculation.
  • Run fill lists and prepare medications for Cubies or Pyxis stations.
  • Deliver medications and IVs to patient care areas. Deliver controlled substances to patient care areas, take controlled substance physical inventories and reconcile controlled substance inventory counts.
  • Data enter patient charges and credits.
  • Check in the order, process invoices, credits and backorders. Restock medication on the shelves as needed and, if needed, purchase medication from suppliers.
  • Maintain assigned work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent
  • Required: Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Required Upon Hire: Certified Pharmacy Tech - Washington

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hospital pharmacy utilizing unit dose, IV admixtures, and pharmacy computer systems.
  • Retail pharmacy experience considered.
