About the position

The position is accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. The role serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the position supervises pharmacy technicians and cashiers, ensuring compliance with company policies, laws, and regulations. The role includes responsibilities for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel, leading training, coaching, and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer complaints and respond to requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist pharmacist in the delivery of patient care including patient registration and prescription data entry.
  • Prepare medications for patients, counting, and verifying as allowed by law.
  • Complete patient and physician calls under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Manage core pharmacy workflow and drive excellence in pharmacy operations.
  • Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies.
  • Ensure compliance and execution of all business administrative activities and pharmacy inventory management tasks.
  • Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist.
  • Manage Community Outreach Portal and coordinate off-site immunization clinics and community events.
  • Lead performance management of pharmacy technicians including discipline and termination decisions.
  • Monitor and hold pharmacy technicians accountable for timely training completion.
  • Maintain PTCB certification and enhance knowledge related to pharmacy and healthcare.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous people management/leadership experience.
  • Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
