About the position

The Pharmacy Intern position at Walgreens is designed for individuals enrolled in a pharmacy program who are eager to learn and provide exceptional patient experiences. The role involves assisting pharmacists and pharmacy team members in compliance with state and federal regulations, utilizing pharmacy systems to process prescriptions, and delivering outstanding customer service. Interns will gain practical experience in pharmacy operations, patient care, and customer engagement while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers.
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of the pharmacist.
  • Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the pharmacist in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Assist pharmacists in delivering patient care and services within the state scope of practice.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Register all related sales on the cash register and handle cash as required.
  • Assist customers in locating products in the OTC aisle.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
  • Support inventory management activities in the Pharmacy Department.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the Pharmacy Department.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program.
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
