About the position

The Pharmacy Intern Grad position at Walgreens is designed for individuals pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree. The intern will provide pharmacy consulting services, assist in medication management, and enhance customer experience through effective communication and healthcare services. The role supports the pharmacy manager in optimizing operations and financial performance while ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members.
  • Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating their needs and proactively offering services.
  • Counsels patients on medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
  • Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of pharmacy systems and proposes enhancements.
  • Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims and follows up with providers.
  • Performs retail, clinical, and wellness services such as immunizations and diabetes awareness.
  • Assists the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and inventory management.
  • Develops relationships with local medical community and participates in outreach activities.
  • Partners with Central Pharmacy Operations for customer registration and issue resolution.
  • Assists the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training.
  • Promotes teamwork and motivates team members.
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
  • Obtains necessary certifications and training as required by the company.
  • Supports the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant information to staff.

Requirements

  • Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited educational institution prior to the start date.
  • Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
