About the position

The Pharmacy Intern Grad position at Walgreens is designed for individuals pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree. The role focuses on providing pharmacy consulting services, ensuring the proper compounding and dispensation of medications, and enhancing customer experience through effective communication and healthcare services. Interns will support pharmacy operations, assist in staff training, and engage with the local medical community to promote pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Develop strong relationships with valuable customers by anticipating their needs and proactively offering services.
  • Counsel patients regarding medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Assist pharmacy manager in establishing efficient workflow procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and propose enhancements to promote productivity.
  • Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and follow up with providers as needed.
  • Perform retail, clinical, and wellness services such as immunizations and diabetes awareness.
  • Assist in analyzing performance data related to pharmacy operations.
  • Develop relationships with local healthcare providers and participate in community outreach activities.
  • Support the Pharmacy Manager in staff hiring and training, and provide coaching and feedback to team members.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare through continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited educational institution prior to the start date.
  • Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willingness to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service or retail pharmacy environment.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy management systems and technology.
