About the position

The Clinical Liaison for Specialty Pharmacy Operations is responsible for partnering with health system clients and serving as the Clinical Pharmacist of Specialty Medications. This role involves providing support to the on-site Pharmacy Team through a hands-on approach to problem-solving, with the ultimate goal of delivering total quality patient care. The position requires navigating and improving the specialty patient journey, staying updated with new drug launches, and implementing clinical programs to support provider teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and captures new prescription resources and collaborates with specialty clinic decision-makers to grow and expand the business.
  • Acts as an expert in specialty pharmacy areas including REMS products, oncology, hematology, and rheumatology.
  • Reviews patient clinical programs and specialty processes to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Identifies potential areas of expansion within clinics and seeks ways to increase efficiency and eliminate obstacles for providers.
  • Enrolls specialty patients into programs to ensure optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Supports patients throughout their therapy to achieve the best clinical outcomes.
  • Coordinates clinical projects and assists with formulary decisions, ensuring billing compliance and revenue capture.
  • Prevents and resolves drug-related issues, providing drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ensures compliance with Omnicell Specialty Pharmacy Services' standards based on Service Level Agreements.
  • Maintains positive relationships with internal stakeholders through timely communication.
  • Develops and maintains an escalation protocol for specific situational matters.
  • Documents, tracks, and follows up on critical action items daily.
  • Works with the Quality Team to complete clinical and operational audits.
  • Ensures accuracy of clinical and operational documentation within pharmacy systems.
  • Addresses escalated complaints and resolves issues effectively.
  • Applies business process techniques and manages execution through key performance metrics.
  • Performs duties in accordance with established SOPs and company core values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Pharm.D. or BS Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Current and good standing pharmacist license in MS.
  • Successful completion of state pharmacy board examination.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three to five years' experience in a specialty pharmacy clinical role focusing on clinical program management, patient counseling, and provider communication.
  • Three to five years' experience in a lead pharmacy role and one year in a patient management program.
  • Three years of experience in specialty pharmacy.
  • Strong understanding of specialty accreditation processes and requirements.
  • Strong understanding of the benefits investigation process for specialty products.
  • Experience navigating prior authorizations for specialty medications.
  • One year of experience as a Drug/Pharma Representative / Medical Science Liaison (MSL) / Marketing.
