About the position

As a Pharmacy Clinical Account Consultant at Wellmark, you will play a crucial role in providing pharmaceutical and health management sales and business development support. This position involves marketing new and existing clinical strategies to control costs, as well as managing a diverse pharmacy and health management product and services portfolio. You will support the RFP/RFI process and help set retention strategies for existing clients, demonstrating the value of Wellmark's pharmacy products and services while ensuring a seamless transition for new clients. If hired at the Senior level, you will serve as a subject matter expert and mentor within the Pharmacy Clinical Account team, engaging in plan performance discussions and clinical update reviews to drive strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is mission-driven, passionate about improving healthcare, and possesses strong consulting skills to uncover needs and develop creative solutions. A strong understanding of the pharmacy landscape is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pharmaceutical and health management sales and business development support to account services, business development, and proposal teams.
  • Market new and existing clinical strategies to control costs.
  • Support the RFP/RFI process and set retention strategies for existing clients.
  • Demonstrate the value of Wellmark pharmacy products and services to clients.
  • Ensure a seamless transition for new clients during implementation.
  • Serve as a clinical liaison and subject matter resource between PBM, clients, and internal teams.
  • Develop sales training and marketing materials aligned with Wellmark's pharmacy benefit value proposition.
  • Analyze client-specific claims data to improve healthcare outcomes and control drug spend.
  • Collaborate with the product and market implementation team on pharmacy-related products and services.
  • Translate complex clinical information into effective communications for various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or PharmD.
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy license in Iowa or South Dakota within 6 months of hire.
  • 2+ years of experience in a PBM, health plan, pharmaceutical sales, or related industry.
  • Broad understanding of the healthcare delivery system and pharmacy benefit management systems.
  • Strong understanding of PBM/health plan sales and marketing best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand client needs and develop customized solutions.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to consult and negotiate.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to coach and mentor others.
