About the position

This position is a federal role that requires applicants to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the specific position. The position involves support duties to medical or health personnel, including audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Technician experience is defined as experience that required the application of knowledge, methods, and techniques relevant to the position being filled. The minimum qualifications require at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service, or relevant education and training as specified for different grade levels.

Responsibilities

  • Record patients' medical history and vital signs.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information.
  • Take and record vital signs for patients.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Operate specialized medical equipment as required.
  • Adhere to clinic and departmental safety regulations.
  • Enter patient data into electronic health records.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Successful completion of relevant education or training as specified for GS-03, GS-04, or GS-05 levels.
  • Experience in recording medical histories and vital signs.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting or healthcare environment.
  • Certification in medical assisting or a related field.
