About the position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center - Opening in 2025! When open in early 2025, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health will be the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital will include 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking a Pharmacist (Full Time). Our ideal candidate will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, patient counseling, and teaching. Staff Pharmacists fill orders for medications, monitor patients drug therapies and provide drug information. Staff pharmacist supervises and directs supportive staff. In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Director of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, patient counseling, and teaching.
  • Fill orders for medications and monitor patients' drug therapies.
  • Provide drug information to patients and healthcare providers.
  • Supervise and direct supportive staff.
  • Assume essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Director of Pharmacy in their absence.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) preferred.
  • 8 years of professional experience that demonstrates a progressive leadership background.
  • Current license to practice as a Pharmacist in the District of Columbia or eligible to obtain.
  • Some travel may be required.

  • Knowledgeable of and complies with laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy.
  • Pyxis experience with knowledge of Pyxis Reports (i.e., optimization, load/unload, nursing narcotic access, etc.).
