About the position

This position is for a professional nursing role within the Federal service, specifically targeting candidates who meet the educational and licensure requirements as outlined by the Nurse Series 0610. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position. The Hiring Manager may consider applicants who are currently enrolled in a nursing program and expected to complete their education and obtain the necessary licensure within nine months of applying. The role involves providing direct professional nursing care, assessing patient health conditions, and participating in patient-centered medical home initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional nursing care to patients.
• Review medical history and assess current health conditions.
• Evaluate patients' ability to self-care.
• Administer medications according to the plan of care.
• Assist healthcare providers with procedures.
• Participate in care coordination based on patient needs.
• Educate patients and families to improve health outcomes.

Requirements

• A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a U.S. state or territory is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing with no experience.
• Possession of a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and one full year of professional nursing experience.
• Completion of at least one full year of graduate education in a professional nursing educational program.
