About the position

This position is a federal role that requires applicants to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the specific position. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work through National Service programs such as the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps. Applicants will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part-time work. It is essential to clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held, along with the total number of hours worked per week. The position involves support duties to medical or health personnel, including audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Technician experience is defined as experience that required the application of knowledge, methods, and techniques relevant to the position.

Responsibilities

• Record patients' medical history and vital signs.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information.
• Take and record vital signs for patients.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Operate specialized medical equipment as required.
• Adhere to clinic and departmental safety regulations.
• Enter patient data into electronic health records.

Requirements

• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service.
• Experience must include recording patients' medical history and vital signs, preparing treatment rooms, and interviewing patients.
• For GS-03: One year of study in medical, health, or related fields or six months of general experience.
• For GS-04: Two years of study with at least 12 semester hours in related subjects or six months of general experience and six months of specialized experience.
• For GS-05: A full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.
