About the position

The Pharmacist position at Walgreens involves providing pharmacy consulting services to patients, ensuring the effective usage of medications, and offering preventive and clinical healthcare services. The role is responsible for the compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications while adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. Additionally, the pharmacist supports the pharmacy manager in optimizing financials, inventory management, and enhancing patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Participate in events that reflect the unique communities served.
  • Counsel patients regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, and privacy.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Assist pharmacy manager in establishing efficient workflow procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and support staff and patients.
  • Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and follow up with providers.
  • Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and implementing procedures.
  • Develop connections with the local medical community and participate in outreach activities.
  • Support centralized patient registration and issue resolution.
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training.
  • Promote teamwork and motivate team members.
  • Maintain current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification.
  • Seek professional development and feedback from managers.
  • Communicate relevant corporate health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification.
  • Experience with pharmacy operations, software, and insurance compliance.
