About the position

The Pharmacist at Walgreens is responsible for providing pharmacy consulting services, ensuring the effective usage of medications, and enhancing patient experiences through various healthcare services. This role involves compounding, dispensing, and verifying prescribed medications while adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. The pharmacist also supports pharmacy operations, assists in optimizing financials and inventory management, and engages with the local medical community to promote health services.

Responsibilities

• Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
• Participate in community events as requested by management.
• Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
• Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding and drug therapy reviews.
• Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and technology.
• Process insurance claims accurately and resolve patient issues.
• Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
• Assist the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and inventory management.
• Develop connections with local healthcare providers and participate in outreach activities.
• Support patient registration and issue resolution in virtual environments.
• Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training.
• Promote teamwork and motivate team members.
• Maintain current knowledge and required licensing for clinical services.
• Seek professional development and training opportunities.
• Communicate relevant corporate health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.

Requirements

• BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
• Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
• Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

• At least 1 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification.
• Familiarity with pharmacy operations, software, and insurance processes.
