About The Position

Responsible for the application of informatics and technology in connection to the ordering, dispensing, and administration of medications as it relates to the Health Information System. This includes development, implementation, maintenance, optimization, and support of pharmacy automation products and software. Serves as the primary training resource for new users on products and software. Performs trend analyses and database assessments in order to identify drug diversion activities in addition to serving as a primary drug diversion resource for nursing and pharmacy leadership. Special emphasis is placed on the specialist's ability to fully understand pharmacy operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet all requirements of a Pharmacy Technician Level 3 position.
  • Six months of UF Health Shands Pharmacy Technician experience and completion of all competencies OR Twelve months of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and work independently without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to effective working relationships both inter- and intra-departmentally in pursuit of common goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate education and service activities.
  • Must be accessible by telephone (provide a valid telephone number).
  • Registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician or licensed Pharmacist Intern prior to their first day of employment.
  • Must present proof of current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status upon employment or obtain national pharmacy technician certification within the first 90 days.

Nice To Haves

  • College level study in pharmacy, health care field or basic sciences preferred.
  • Formal presentation and/or teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database management programs preferred.
