About the position
The position involves assessing patients and safely performing PET procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. The role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, contributing to the overall mission of Ochsner Health to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate in healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
- Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
- Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
- Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including placement of IV and administration of radiopharmaceuticals).
- Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
- Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
- Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Completion of an approved nuclear medicine program.
- Registered in Nuclear Medicine by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or equivalent body.
- Registered in CT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or registry eligible with a temporary work permit.
- Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
