About the position

The primary objective for a Personal Lines Generalist is to be proficient with all core areas of policy administration. This includes policy issuance, policy change(s), quality assurance, premium leakage, and re-underwriting. Underwriting guidelines and processing procedures must be second nature; the Generalists will be expected to identify work-flow inefficiency and prepare improvement proposals for the manager's review. Research the most advanced technical problems in conjunction with all lines of business; to work with the analysts in regard to system problems, new projects and to coordinate the training of personnel. Provide support for all areas on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of all processing and support functions of our underwriting operations workflow.
  • Manage and complete work within assigned authority levels, and properly escalate issues when exceeding your authority.
  • Evaluate underwriting data to determine whether new or existing personal lines risks comply with underwriting criteria or guidelines.
  • Conduct quality audit reviews in accordance with company guidelines to ensure rate accuracy, adherence to guidelines and best practices, and service level standards.
  • Assist others in completing and expediting work to meet divisional production objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with agents to promote risk retention, correct technical problems, and establish positive agency relationships.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a strong working knowledge of existing system applications.
  • Assist in reviewing and developing recommendations to improve workflow in coordination with personal lines operations management.

Requirements

  • Willingness to pursue other insurance education such as PLCS, AINS, CPCU, IIA.
  • Bachelor's degree is desirable.
  • Problem-solving skills and a facility for understanding and applying new procedures.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of procedures, forms and administrative functions.
