About the position

This entry-level banking role is designed to build proficiency in transaction, sales, and service functions. The position operates as a multi-functional team member capable of processing transactions, providing optimum service, and consulting in an advisory role to maximize the sales potential of every interaction. The role involves processing transactions accurately and efficiently while introducing products, services, and digital options that meet customer needs, encouraging customers to expand their relationship with Synovus. The employee will identify customer needs and cross-selling and up-selling opportunities, expand and retain customer relationships, and contribute to the financial growth of the branch. Additionally, the employee serves as the first line of defense in preventing fraud and mitigating risk, demonstrating a passion for delighting customers by living the Customer Covenant every day. On average, the employee spends approximately 80% of their time performing transactional and service functions and 20% on sales and relationship deepening functions.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively and pleasantly greets customers to establish a connection and develop rapport, providing outstanding, personalized customer service.
  • Assesses customer needs, shares and educates the digital strategy, and directs them to the appropriate service areas or banking representatives.
  • Executes a variety of customer transactions in accordance with applicable policies and procedures, ensuring high accuracy and efficiency while maximizing sales potential.
  • Assists customers with inquiries and provides issue resolution in a professional manner, thanking each customer for their business.
  • Cashes checks and processes withdrawals, pays out money after verification of signatures and balances, and prepares official checks and money orders.
  • Counts, checks, and packages coins and currency, balances cash drawer at the end of the day, and reports any discrepancies.
  • Accepts retail and commercial deposits, verifies cash and endorsements, and provides customers with receipts.
  • Listens carefully to customers to understand their financial priorities and promotes bank products, digital options, and services accordingly.
  • Optimizes customer relationships by referring customers to branch team members and/or Synovus partners for cross-selling opportunities.
  • Participates in daily kick-off and huddle activities, weekly sales meetings, and sales and training activities.
  • Adheres to Branch Operations Standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines to protect against risk.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in appearance, punctuality, and behavior, maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills and ability to establish rapport with customers.
  • Ability to process transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support sales initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in banking or retail.
  • Familiarity with digital banking tools and services.
